VFM 4 DEVON TAXPAYERS | Transparency in Local Spending

How Local Government Spends Your Taxes, Clear and Accountable

Empowering Devon residents to see where their taxes are spent

Promoting clarity in local government spending for Devon taxpayers.

Committed to Clear and Transparent Use  of Taxpayers Money

Founded to ensure accountability in Devon's local government, we advocate transparent reporting and monitoring of public funds to guarantee value for money for every taxpayer.

Transparency Commitment

Maintaining a steadfast commitment to full disclosure and clarity in representing Devon local government finances.

The Local Government Transparency Code 2015 states that ALL COUNCILS MUST publish details of their spending over £500 on either a monthly or quarterly business. There are exemptions for sensitive information e.g. children in protective care etc .  But for “typical” transactions e.g. a council pays a contractor to do grass cutting this will appear in the published information.

So, let’s perhaps look at the EXETER CITY COUNCIL (ECC) performance for Apr – to June 2026 which is the first 3 month of the current  financial year.

Let’s play a game a bit like Bruce Forsyth’s Play Your Cards Right

How much do you think EXETER CITY COUNCIL has spent of YOUR money in the LAST 3 months.??  I will give you a clue  it runs into Millions

ANSWER  £14,031,371   yes      £14 MILLION  !!!!!

Please see attached spreadsheets
