IMPORTANT NOTE - East Devon District Council compliance with mandatory requirements of Local Government Transparency Code 2015
On 7th July 2026 we attempted to discover the figures which are required to be produced by The Local Government Transparency Code 2015. We could not see any data later than July 2024. We therefore contacted EDDC using their general online enquiry form (GENERAL ENQUIRY REF FS-case-854743619) together with several screenprints from their website as ostensible evidence of what we had found. We received an automated acknowledgement of our enquiry saying we would receive a reply in due course. Sadly after 3 weeks we had NOT had the courtesy of a reply.
So we were forced to make a formal Freedom of Information Act Request.(FS CASE 861299038). The formal reply is available on their website. Here is their reply - which is now a matter of public record - click on link 21adf504-0478-41d7-8876-ac4c8c39bcbb
OUR COMMENT - IT SEEMS TO US THAT THEY ARE SAYING THAT THE INFORMATION WAS SUPPLIED TO Data.gov.uk, who failed to publish it promptly- so they say its not EDDC's fault. Surely they should take ownership of the transparency process and ensure that it is published in a timely manner as required by the Local Government Transparency Code 2015 . What do you think ????
Shortly after our informal enquiry some figures for Apr 26 to mid July 2026 appeared. This is strange as the normal practice in the Code is to publish results either on a full monthly basis or full quarterly basis. We have summarised these for you below
STOP PRESS 10 SEPT 26 - the figures for apr26 to end July 26 are now available. Here is a challenge - CAN YOU GO TO EDDC WEBSITE AND FIND THE INFORMATION ?? The Code says it should be easy to find and understand
Anyway the total published over £500 spend is £19.6 MILLION
